Second, you can see immediately if the alarm is set, and for what time, without having to push any buttons. I like this clock. The best feature for me, however, has turned out to be the setting that allows the display to be totally dark until you make a movement somewhere near the clock. First, you can set the alarm to go off every day without having to reset it - when you turn it off in the morning it automatically resets for the next day. Any movement, even rolling over in bed can turn the display on if the clock is facing in the right direction.
This is the clock I've been waiting for. I bought one of these for my 14 year old too, and he now has one fewer excuse for not getting up in the morning. The front display shows clearly if the alarms are off or on. The clock numbers are large, which I need in order to read it withough glasses. I've been looking for a new alarm clock for several years and have tried a few but have always been disappointed.
The alarms can be set to go off regularly on weekdays, weekends or both. I've always liked a very dark room and most clocks are too bright.
Love it. That alone makes it worth the purchase, but wait, there's more. I have to have my bedroom totally dark to be able to sleep. This little gem will show you the time when you wave your hand in front of it, then go back to dark. To snooze you don't have to even hit the button, just wave your had at the clock and like magic, you get nine more minutes of slumbering bliss.
The alarm resets every day, so there is no need to turn it on every night. All in all, a very good product. The two alarm settings are convenient for setting different waking times -weekdays and weekends. This radio-Alarm clock is more than I expected. Very easy to set. The timer allows me to fall asleep listening to the radio, which turns off after 30 min.
If I wanted a blast of full display hitting me in the face I wouldn't want it on "off/ wave" to begin with. I find it to be too bright if the unit is placed next to my bed-- and isn't that where most people place them. The auto-set is super fast and the radio volume--NOT the beeper, is loud. The dual alarm display is nice and just hitting the On/Off button shuts the alarm off but keeps it set for the next day. Too bad, because other than the display brightness I like it. The dimmer has high, low, and "off/wave." The "low" is still too bright and the "off/wave," which allows full display darkness but retains the radio's features (it lights back up if you wave your hand in front of the display), comes on nearly every time I roll over, and it lights up to FULL BRIGHTNESS.
I'll probably be returning it. I like the features of this clock radio----mostly. What I'm having a problem with is the display's brightness. Why Emerson didn't link this feature to the "low" setting is beyond me.
The battery may last as long as 5 years or LONGER if your power doesn't go out often. The auto time/date set is a funtion of a litium battery powered memory chip and NOT a radio signal that you may not be able to get. Even if you don't like the loudness of the "buzzer" you can set the alarm to radio, find a station you don't like, turn the volume all the way up and if you still don't wake up. My lovely wife would turn the display away from the bed so the display didn't keep her up and that did me no good since I need to know what time it is. People who say the alarm isn't loud enough puzzle me. I guess we can put the "old" clock in the laundry room since that is one of the few places you can go in our house and not see what time it is.
This is IMHO the best clock radio on the market. This radio has the ability to set the display bright/dim or off/wave. It also gives you "wave" snooze ability by waving after the alarm goes off. well. The off/wave function gives you the ability to completly turn the display off and instantly turn it on for 10 seconds just by waving your hand in front of the sensor. I have another clock radio, also an Emerson, that I bought with the SmartSet technology but it didn't have the ability to dim the display.
This was a great feature. The only problem is that my 12 year old daughter (who I gave the other Emerson alarm to) loved the wave function on this clock and I had to buy another one for her.
